Job Title Billing Assistant
Location San Leandro, CA

Shifts hiring Full-time


 

Objective of the Position:  The objective of the Billing Assistant is to help the Billing Department with administrative functions and processes as well as any Billing Department back up support as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming mail, open and distribute accordingly, scan checks/denials and any appropriate correspondence received
  • Post and distribute denials within two (2) days of receipt
  • Print and mail Daily Rescue Net Form (CMS1500-primary and secondary, bill patient and facility invoices)
  • Manage record storage (PCR filing and recovery, medical records and subpoena requests
  • Request medical records from facilities when needed
  • Request Addendum Paperwork from Operations when needed
  • Assist with pre-billing and insurance verification
  • Backup cash posting when needed
  • Assist with claims follow up when needed
  • Conduct research as needed and assist in special projects on an as needed basis
  • Maintain compliance with all required HIPPA rules, regulations and guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with the Billing Department and Director of Business Administration, keeping everyone informed and up to date on issues, trends and any relevant information
  • Demonstrate and support Royal’s Mission, Values and Quality Standards

 

Skills / Requirements:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good problem solving ability with sound reasoning and analysis of options
  • Equally able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Must be able to learn and interact with more technical computer applications in addition to knowledge of basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Can handle multiple requests and interruptions throughout the day as well as changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Fast learner with the ability to perform new tasks and duties efficiently and effectively
  • Extremely organized, detail oriented and focused
  • Can anticipate needs and potential problems and actively seek opportunities and propose solutions
  • Dependable with good communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
